Minutes of FSA Board Meeting

Secretary Report:  Minutes approved from November Meeting
Treasurer’s Report: Tim Schmidtke is receiving everything from Ann Weinkauf (past Treasurer)

Registration update :

  • Postcard Mailers will be sent out for 2010 registration.
  • Flyers will be delivered to 3-5 grade elementary schools.
  • The Daily News will give registration information for us.

Uniforms:

  • The Uniform process will be the same for this year.
  • We will use uniforms from Select Gear for 9-10 Traveling.
  • This is the last year for the current style for the Addidas uniforms.It was discussed to have the association keep the uniforms. Players would get a uniform and then turn them back in. This would eliminate cost for the players.

Fundraising:

  • It has been decided not to have a Golf Tournament Fundraiser. A Raffle ticket is being put together as a fundraiser. It was decided that this may be a better fit for our organization.

Complex update :

  • Bathrooms should be functional by mid to late June if things go as planned.
  • All FSA teams will be able to practice and play games at the soccer complex this year.

Soccer Camp:

  • A soccer camp the first week of August was discussed. SSM said they would be happy to run the camp at our soccer complex. More will be discussed on this later.

Secretary Report:  Minutes approved from January Meeting
Treasurer’s Report:  nothing new at this time

Fundraising:

  • Bob gave us the details on the fundraiser raffle.  We discussed adding prizes and decided against it for this year.  Bob will be giving each soccer family 5 tickets to sell.  More information coming.

Players, team formations, coaches and recruitment:
We went over all the teams and discussed what was needed for each from who has registered as of Feb 7th.  To recap:

  • U16 girls:  12 have registered; coaches:  Tim Wayland, Dean ?, Pat Ermer, Courtney Vail?;  play on MW
  • U13 girls:  13 have registered; coaches: Troy Temple, Jennifer Murphy; play on TR
  • U12 girls:  13 have registered; coaches: Pat Dudley and ???; play on MW
  • U10 girls:  10 have registered; coaches:  ???; play on  MW
  • U9 girls:  8 have registered; coaches:  ???; play on TR
  • Goal:  need to recruit a few 10, 11 and 13 yr olds
  • U18 boys:  9 have registered; coaches:  Missy Plante;  play on MW
  • U16 boys:  19 have registered; coaches: Jason Johannsen, Steve Kletschka, Jake Roberts?; play on TR
  • U15 boys:  22 have registered; coaches:  Bob Palmquist, Pat Dudley; play on MW (this is a change due to email) possibly break into 2 teams if can recruit more
  • U12 boys:  16 have registered; coaches:  Rick Stadler, Tim Wagner, Jason Johanson;  play on TR
  • U11 boys:  12 have registered; coaches: Steve Kletschka, Louis Hayton; play on MW, decided on moving up 4 10 yr olds because traveled with them last year bringing the total to 16
  • U10 boys:  this leaves 9 registered; coaches:  ????; play on TR
  • Goal:  need to recruit more 13, 14, 15, 18 yr olds

Minutes of FSA Board Meeting
Sunday, April 11, 2010

Present:  Troy Temple, Shelly Prieve, Bob Palmquist, Brendan Cox, Pat Dudley, Steve Kletschka, Ann Weinkauf, Tim Schmidtke, Doug Zahn, Missy Plante



Treasurer’s Report:  gave us the balance in the checking account, keeping in mind that checks have not gone out yet

Fundraising:

  • At the 9-3 pm HyVee table, only 11 tickets were sold.  We are cancelling the rest of the dates at Nelson’s
  • Radio and newspaper ads
  • May 8 is the turn-in date

Field and Ref Coordinator Report:

  • There are 13 refs, schedule is based on availability and experience
  • 65 Home games, these will be sent to coaches
  • Reminder:  it is tough to get 6 refs a night
  • Coaches need to go through the process to change games, questions?  Please ask Missy

Team Updates

  • 2009, 135 players
  • 2010, 186 players
  • Teams are pretty much full

Soccer Complex Update

  • Carlander Field (Field 3) will be the game field for U13 and up
  • Rotary Field (Field 1) will be game field for U9, U10, U11 and U12
  • Receiving bids for the toilet/sewer line
  • Interior walls will possibly be painted by the prison
  • Bids for mowing will be received by Faribault Park and Rec
  • We will be watching the wear and tear on Field 1, placing goals at the Middle School, Roosevelt, Maple Lawn and possibly Jefferson will help

Secretary’s Report:  Approved the minutes from April

Treasurer’s Report:  Gave us the balance in the checking account, broke it down by Little Feat, Traveling Soccer and the Raffle after expenses


Fundraising:

  • Raffle  cleared $3781, we can add prizes (cash?)  along with Ballard’s for next year
  • State Board of Gambling permit if over the $1500 limit


Soccer Camp Update:

  • August 2-6 at the Complex put on by Shattuck, cost is $45 and $75…emails sent out to parents and coaches

Team Updates:

  • Traveling has 12 teams and 191 players
  • Discussed over-rostering
  • Little Feat has 9 teams and 90 players

Soccer Complex Update:

  • Holding tank on back order
  • Construction in July
  • City is mowing about every 5 days
  • Watching the wear and tear on the Rotary Field, have been and will continue to lock up goals for the weekends

       Absent:  Tammy Anderson



Treasurer’s Report:  gave us the balance in the checking account, keeping in mind that checks need to go to refs, the league, tournaments, our complex share and to the city
Fall Soccer:
  • Rec Center will register K-5 for $29, no uniform/ball
  • Assoc. responsible for coaches and to design the teams
  • FMS Fall Soccer (grades 6-8):  Coaching position has been posted, Assoc will send email to our coaches to see if there is any interest, 8 games, $60
  • Assoc. Soccer:  U11-U12 boys??, U11-U12 girls??;  U13 boys, U13 girls, 5-6 games, $75, begins Labor Day Weekend, Online registration by Aug 8, teams must be submitted to MYSA by Aug. 9
  • We are suggesting that if playing Assoc. soccer, play as well on the MS team

Soccer Camp:

  • Aug 2-6 at the Complex and ran by Shattuck-St. Mary's Soccer

Soccer Complex Update:

  • Walls will be painted & Bathrooms/kitchen plumber will be completed in August.
  • Fields are getting worn down, Nets will be taken down and stored in the Complex, Goals will be locked together to give grass a break before the Fall season begins

Sunday, August 29, 2010
Present:  Troy Temple, Shelly Prieve, Bob Palmquist, Tim Schmidtke, Doug Zahn, Missy Plante, Tammy Anderson

Treasurer’s Report:  gave us the balance in the checking account; our share to the complex needs to be paid yet, the port-a-potties and 3 games left for refs also needs to be paid

Fall Soccer:

  • Need a few volunteers for the first night to get everyone checked in
  • The Soccer Board approved paying a coordinator to run the Fall K-5 program.

Soccer Camp:

  • Aug 2-6 at the Complex and ran by Shattuck-St-Mary’s Soccer program.  We are very thankful as they did a great job.

Soccer Complex Update:

  • Walls are painted, paid a professional
  • Bathrooms  are done and ready for the fall
  • Concessions:  Booster clubs? Fundraising for Assoc?  needs further discussion

Field/Ref Coordinator Report:

  • We have one Assoc team this fall:  U12 boys
  • Refs went very well this year for the most part
  • Will be preparing refs for certain games due to unsportsmanship from players with away teams.
  • Discussed having tournaments, need one more year of normal play, also need to have MYSA sanction the tournaments

Annual Banquet final plans:   October 3 at the Elks from 5-7 pm

  • HyVee: baked/fried chicken, twice baked potato, dinner roll, green beans and corn, same cost as last year $5.25
  • Raffle same as last year
  • 3 Board positions are up

Fundraising Report:

  • Ballard’s Raffle
  • Possibility is a Chevy Raffle:  2000 tickets, price set to what we want, receive $500 right off the bat from Chevy, we keep 100% of the proceeds, tickets go into a national drawing for a Chevy Malibou or Equinox, one person from Fbo. Would win a Home Entertainment Center
  • FHS Varsity games need ball retrievers for each girls Home games: 2-4 kids per game, U10 and above, free admission to game, FHS will pay FSA to find ball retrievers.

Treasurer’s Report:  gave us the balance in the checking account; our share to the complex needs to be paid yet as well as the maintenance bill; Final Rotary money yet to come in for the complex

  • Building is fully functional
  • Lights:  applied for a $100 000 grant, bid from Muska Lighting
  • Fields:  concerned about the wear and tear on the fields especially the Rotary Field

Team Layout for 2011:

  • Little Feat:  5-8 years old
  • U9/U10:  $135 with uniform included
  • U11+:  $275 with uniform included

Registration Process:

  • Goal is Dec 1, 2010 – Feb 6, 2011 for all Traveling teams U9+
  • Little Feat Deadline is in May

Uniform Options:

  • Current Adidas Toque uniform is no longer available
  • Discussed Adidas vs Reversible Jerseys vs Handing out and collecting jerseys
  • Decided to go with reversible for U9/U10, and Adidas for U11+
