U-11 age group and older - the association will pay fees for two tournaments and districts / state
There are four girl’s teams:  U-10, U-11, U-13 and U-17.  The boys will field nine teams:  U-9 (3), U-10,
U-11, U-12, U-13, U-16 and U-17.

  1.  Soccer Update – Coach Cox
    2015 season is promising / exciting changes coming
    Little Feat numbers are up, follows excitement of women’s World Cup

    The Festival takes in about 70% of the season’s funds
    Need four more volunteers to help

New Business

  1.  Little Feat Update – Coach Cox

Fourteen teams, six at U-8 and eight at U-6

Tiny Feat had 50 participants

Two high school students coached U-8 teams (players enjoyed having young coaches)

Parents asked if an all-girl team could be put together

Discussion about starting season sooner, to be completed by July 1st

A survey will be distributed to the parents for their feedback

Discussion regarding a Shattuck-St. Mary’s student considering running a soccer camp, at Shattuck, with our help

July 27 – 31, 2015, at the soccer complex

Mini Kick:  age 5 to 8, 6 – 7 pm

Extended Kick:  age 9 to 13, 6 – 8 pm

High School Prep:  age 14 & above, 6 – 8 pm

Discussion:  set a “firm” date for both / consider volunteer time back to the association for scholarships  /  President Ross to revise both policies  /  updates to be posted on website

This was first year with U-11 / 12 teams

28 teams with a total of 308 individual participants

Faribault Soccer Festival 2016 to be held on May 7th

City of Faribault to distribute more, cleaner, signs to the fields

Entrance to field is at 20% downhill grade  /  too steep for flat sheet of concrete

Discussion to continue with City Engineer for best, safest, solution

 

  1. Parent Letter to Board

Discussion:  how to create teams at beginning of season  /  decisions of player placement will be made to serve the association, not by personal choice  /  a response will be made by President Ross

Discussion why FSA had to forfeit a game this season

MYSA penalties for a forfeiture:  $100.00 if an attempt is made to play  /  $200.00 if no attempt

  1. MYSA Rule Changes for 2016-17  (received from U.S. Soccer Federation) – Mike Ross
  1.  Mandated Calendar-Year Age Groups – August of 2016
  1.  In accordance, our new soccer year will be summer season to fall season starting with

January 1, 2017.

  1. Tryouts may still take place after the completion of the Summer State Tournament,

according to MYSA rules.

  1. Inter-Club transfers will now take place between the summer and fall season.  This assists those wishing to participate in the MN State Cup and the fall season.
  2. This aligns MYSA with other sports and the calendar year.
  1. Mandated Small-Sided Games
  1. Offside will be in effect for U-9 / U-10 games beginning the summer of 2017.
  2. One to three referee system for U-9 / U-10 games.
  3. Number of players for U-9 / U-10 games increases to 7v7, MYSA to adjust roster size accordingly.
  4. Number of players for U-11 / U-12 games increases to 9v9, MYSA to adjust roster size accordingly.
  5. Goal size for U-9 to U-12 will be 6.5 ft. x 18.5 ft., this will be phased in as clubs purchase new goals  -  must be in place by the start of summer 2019 season.
  6. Field size for U-9 / U-10 will be 47 yds. X 30 yds. beginning summer of 2017.
  7. Field size for U-11 / U-12 will be 75 yds. x 47 yds. beginning summer of 2017.

          

                           New goals are estimated at $1,200.00 to $1,500.00 per set

 

  1. Carlander Field Fencing  -  Troy Temple

Discussion:  consider putting a fence around the Carlander Field  /  better control of the field  /  safer for association teams  /  possibly a year out due to need to purchase new goals

 

  1. Flag Lighting – Joe Schleis

Request to have light on the complex flag  -  24 hours

Discussion:  respect of the flag a concern  /  cost was a concern  /  solar lighting expensive  /  decision made to have Steve Kletschka (Electrician) look into and install permanent electric lighting on a timer

  1. Concessions  -  Joe Schleis

First of 15 home games, combined, for the boys and girls soccer teams was Aug. 28th  /  the boys played Stewartville  /  $292.00 in purchases made at game

New Business

  1. Eagle Scout Project – Stuart Johnson
    Mr. Johnson, along with some of his teammates from S-SM, would like to run a camp for 6 to 8 year old players in order for him to earn his Eagle Scout Badge  /  a weekend in January of 2016 is thought to be when the project could be scheduled  /  this project would benefit the Faribault Soccer Association’s members  /  it would be free of charge and run as a “fun” soccer experience and not as a typical practice.

The board is in favor of this venture.  Mike Ross will serve as a contact for Mr. Johnson and aid in providing exposure for this project.

  1. Tournament Director, Referee Assignor / Field Coordinator
    Board discussed of what kind of commitment these positions involve and who some possible candidates are.
     
  2. Appointment of Officers -  Mike Ross

President:  Mike Ross

Vice-President:  Steve Kletschka

Treasurer:  Doug Zahn

All four members graciously accepted these roles as officers  / a motion was moved and seconded to accept

VOTE:  7 AYE, 0 NAYE  -  motion approved

 

The roles of Registrar, Referee Assignor / Field Coordinator and Tournament Director needed to be filled.  Board members volunteering to fill these roles are:

Registrar:  Shelly Prieve

Referee Assignor / Field Coordinator:  Joe Schleis

Tournament Director:  Andrea Bauer

After some board discussion, a motion was moved and seconded to accept these volunteers to their new roles.

VOTE:  7 AYE, 0 NAYE  -  motion carried

 

  1. Post Office Box  -  Mike Ross
    Discussion about having a PO Box for association mail / board decided unanimously that a PO Box was not wanted at this time.
     
  2. How to Track Volunteer Hours of Scholarship Recipients  -  Mike Ross
    Board discussed multiple ways to accomplish this / Andrea Vogelsberg volunteered to chair this discussion and review ways to accomplish this.
  3. Raise Fees for U-9 / U-10 Traveling, Little & Tiny Feat and Fall Soccer  -  Mike Ross
    Proposed fees for summer, 2016:

U-9 / U-10 to$150.00 (up from $135.00)

Little Feat to $65.00 (up from $50.00)

Fall Soccer and Tiny Feat to $35.00 (up from $25.00)

After brief discussion, the board felt the proposed fees were well within line when compared to those of associations around us  /  moved and seconded to accept the new fees

VOTE:  7 AYE, 0 NAYE  -  motion approved

 

  1. On-Line Registration  -  Mike Ross
    On-line registration will be available starting December 1st, 2015 / forms will be updated with changes made regarding Fees, Volunteer Hours and End Date for Applying for Scholarships.
     
  2. Concessions  -  Joe Schleis
    A profit of $1,209.05 was recorded for the summer and fall seasons / a donation of left over water, Gatorade and chips was made to the Faribault High School Boys Soccer Team for their trip to the state tournament. 

During the off-season, Concessions will be looking for NSF approved refrigeration to replace the existing cooler provided by Pepsi Cola.

  1. “Thank You” to Shattuck-St. Mary’s
    The board would like to formally thank the members of Shattuck-St. Mary’s soccer teams for their efforts in running another successful camp this past fall at the Soccer Complex.

Old Business

  1. Fencing Around Carlander Field  -  Troy Temple
    Discussion will continue / Board likes this idea / need to consider costs of new goals and nets with regard to forth coming rule changes by the MYSA.
